The produce fairy

I have the most wonderful coworker. Every summer and early fall, he showers me with produce. No joke. As Brody and I were getting ready for our day today, I heard Brody exclaim, "Wayne's here again!!"

He was unloading another batch of his awesome gardening skills onto our driveway. Today, we received this huge box of peppers, (3 different kinds!), roma tomatoes,

and apples!! I was so excited about the apples. He said he didn't know if he'd get many this year, or if they'd be any good to give out because last year was such a good year. They look pretty good to me!!

AND - 4 watermelons. HUGE watermelons.
It was like Christmas!
We have already gotten more corn, onions, and tomatoes from him that can fit in our freezer, so this mornings visit was truly a surprise!
Question - there are lots of peppers. Can I freeze them? I have never tried freezing peppers before. Or does anyone have any fabulous pepper recipes to share? Actually, apple recipes also??
Help a girl out.

I haven't even cried yet.

So I haven't talked to Adam for what, not even 2 weeks? (and no, I'm not planning on it.)

But I haven't even let myslef sit down and be sad about it yet. I think I need to cry. I want to, but I can't. I am sad. But I just won't let myself go there.

I am pretty sure he had a "set up date" last weekend. I am also pretty sure it went well. It is both a good and bad thing that we have mutual friends.

I also know that he wasn't home last night. And it's his weekend off, so I'm sure there will be another outing with the newbie. This makes me bitter.

I want to be happy too.

I don't have any plans tonight. Except to try to make myself cry and get it out. I'm thinking a sad movie and a bottle of wine might do the trick.

Then I can focus on moving on too. Remember the teacher I added on facebook? I guess he's interested. I told the mediators to tell him to email me, so we'll see if he does.

Think some happy thoughts for me.

Happy Thoughts for Today

I love these posts the most. I usually do them when I am feeling down, but I actually am pretty happy right now, and just want to share why!

* Best friends, beer and football.

* American Eagle Artist jeans. I've always loved AE, especially their jeans. But these are AWESOME. My favorites ever. I need to buy some more.

* Kings of Leon. I am sooooo in love with them right now. Go and get their CD. You won't be dissapointed.

* Taking out all my anger/frustrations/bitterness/sad feelings on my treadmill. I've been working that thing overtime the past week!!

* This candy. Oh wow. SOOO good. Almost as good as those mini eggs at Easter, but not quite. It has to be the caramel kind though. LOVE.
* New babies! My friend Allyson had her first little guy yesterday. They named him Chance William and he is adorable. I can't wait to meet him.
* Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs. Brody and I had an "US" day on Sunday, and we went to see this for part of it. Funny! We loved it. And it's 3D, which makes it even more fun!

* I made some wonderfully spicy chicken/green chile/spinach/sour cream enchiladas that I made for dinner the other night. (Well, I love them, Brody not so much. Which is good, because all the leftovers are MINE!)
* Hot chocolate weather! I can't believe it's the start of fall today.
Which means, (especially since some places are already getting snow) that I need to start thinking about winter. Which leads me to shopping. Brody will need a new coat/snowsuit. And I really need a new coat myself. Mine was getting pretty worn out last year, and I don't think it'll work again this year.
One not so happy thought - I won't get my new car for another 3-4 weeks (BIG BOOOOOOOO on that).

De-funked by string cheese

Last night, Brody and I were enjoying our most favorite snack. String cheese. While cuddling in the recliner and watching the office.

As we were both mmmmm-ing and smacking our lips, he turns to me and says,

"Mom, I love you more than string cheese. And that is a lot!"

That was all I needed. I slept good last night for the first time all week, and woke up without the giant knot in my stomach.

How is it that he always knows just what to say? God, he makes me happy.

Feeling pretty low

I'm pretty down right now.

This weekend I finally hit my breaking point with Adam. I ended it. He is deleted from my phone, and I asked him to please respect me and not call/text/anything. I need him to leave me be. I'm still working my thoughts and feelings out about it, but I'll post about it soon.

Downpour!

I seems to be raining directly over my head.

Yesterday on my way to work I blew a tire. (On the old car. New one has not yet arrived.) Which means I now have to buy a brand new tire for a car I am giving up in a matter of weeks.

All day at work I was swamped.

I seem to have gained 4 pounds. Not at all pleased, and not really sure how? Also, with daily running and every other day aerobics and/or cardio, shouldn't my body be getting FIRMER? What is with the all of the sudden my belly is flappy crap? Please tell me this is just what happens before it melts away. I don't get it.

Last night, I went to start water for Brody's bath.... and it would not get HOT.

Checked the breaker, one fuse was shot, and I of course had no extra. So, I do what I do as a single gal, I called my dad.

He shows up, fuses, fuse tester, screwdriver and flashlight in hand and gets to work. Turns out, I either need to buy a whole new water heater, or (hopefully this works) just replace the elements.

I guess it's been running with only one element working for awhile, and the other one gave out now too. I of course did not know this, how would I, with it only me and Brody there using the hot water, and having a 50 gallon water heater, it's not like we use that much to know one wasn't working. AND - the warranty for it ran out in July. So great.

As he was working on this, I get a text message from Jon ( some of you may remember him - he is Adam's friend who I kissed one night. Nothing ever came of it. He's not for me). He wants to know why I always give him the cold shoulder.

I said, sorry, I don't mean too. You know about me and Adam. and he replies, yeah, I get it. Thanks for avoiding me and cutting me out then.

I do not actively avoid/ignore him. I actually haven't even SEEN him out in a long time. What does he want me to do, call him up, to say what? I saw him at the diner last Friday for lunch, I was already eating with my friend, Adam was in the back room eating with his coworkers and he walked in, got his food and sat by himself on the opposite side. He also left before I did. But I guess that means I avoided him, huh??? I don't get it. But I feel kind of bad about it.

Thank god for all the men I do keep in my life. My brother found me a tire, $40. My dad is getting 2 elements for me today, $40. So, a cheaper fix than it could have been. And when I finally laid down last night in bed, I texted Adam and said I had a shitty day, make me smile.

His reply made me.

~ I am still on the fence with our relationship. I am putting him on the back burner, just to see how he reacts not being a priority to me. I was asked by the setup guy who I added on facebook if I'd be interested in going on a double date sometime with him, my brother and his fiance. I am going to go. I think it will be good for me, good for Adam, and good for our relationship. And maybe I'll find what I've been missing!! Thanks for listening to my pity party!

Not sure I'll be jumping on this train.

Are there any green smoothers out there?

I have a friend that has really changed her lifestyle in the last year.  She started off by becoming vegetarian, but was still eating a lot of bad foods, a lot of pastas each day and a lot of oils.  Not much fruit or veggies.  She started reading up on raw diets, etc.  and then started eating raw for 2 meals each day.

For the last few months, she has been drinking green smoothies each day.  She posts a blog about them on her facebook with recipes and facts, and theories that she has read about in her new eating habits.

I must say, she looks fantastic.  She has lost at least 30 pounds (she has also started running, so that is not all from her eating habits.)  and she seriously just glows.  She has gotten a lot of our friends to start drinking the green smoothie also.  I decided to give these things a try.

I used 2 handfuls of spinach, 8 strawberries and a pear.  I added about a cup of water and blended away.

The flavor was delicious.  Of course, with those ingredients, why wouldn't it be??  The texture, however, leaves a lot to be desired.

My question is, why not just eat a salad??  Has anyone else done the green smoothies?  Do you have any suggestions?  I think I might make another one today, but I just don't know if this is something I'll be doing on the regular.
